What a day!

After a good night in a small bay near morrisburg, we went for a morning swim at the local beach, refilled our drinking water and our solar shower and off we went, thinking we would stop for the night in Cardinal.

Just a little bit before the Iroquois lock, we dropped anchor to fix a nice lunch, take a little break and relax.  As we were leaving, we hit the bottom a little; it was a bit more shallow than we thought and we had rushed our departure a bit by not turning on the gps.... oops.... luckily, it was just a little scrape and no harm done. phew.

Then the waiting game begins.....

All the visitor docks were full, and the doors to the lock were closed.  So we circled.  And circled.  And circled.  A big laker ship arrived and went through the lock.  Size matters in a lock....  And then we circled and circled some more.  Did I mention we circled?  The boys were soooo patient!
Aha green means go!  So we got into the lock, rafting up with a big cruiser from Trois-Rivieres.  The doors close, you give them your cash, and then the doors open.  No movement!  Litterally no change in the level!  A very nice cash-making operation that is....

Anyhow, off we went, to Cardinal.
On two maps, and on the phone, we have located this marina.  Nope.  After a more than nerve wracking passage into the silliest canal, there is, wait for it.... a dock for a pedalo at best and an ice cream counter.
So we turned around.  Old Galop nonsense...

Someone told us that in Johnstown there would be a marina.  Yes, but for cruisers...not enough water for us.
So we marched on to beautiful Prescott.
The boys were sooooo soooo soooo patient!  Real sailors they are.  Liam helped daddy navigate and tie up the boat when we got there, and Thomas helped fixing supper.

That was a long day.  Nearly 10 hours on the water.  My boys, all 3 of them, are AMAZING!

We decided to stay 2 nights, to refuel on gas, food, water and energy.  Good night :)
